Community & Economic Development – Focuses on government relations with the
organizations in the borough to help promote growth and stability. Liaison to organizations such as the Trafford Library, TECDC, Trafford Borough Business Association, Lions Club, etc. Works with the borough office regarding community programs and projects, encouraging volunteerism, collecting nominations, exploring grant opportunities, and promoting the Renee Cappetta Volunteer of the Year Award.
General Government & Finance – Focuses on government relations with our own
administrative staff as well as with other communities. Liaison to organizations such as the Westmoreland County Borough’s Association, Council of Governments (COGs), and PA Borough’s Association. Works with the borough office regarding technology, communications, finance, and general government activities.
Parks & Recreation – Focuses on the borough’s role regarding the upkeep and promotion of our parks and recreational programs available to the community. Liaison to organizations such as PTARC, Recreation Board, and Westmoreland Heritage Trail. Works with the borough office to promote park, pavilion, and Manchester Room rentals as well as working with the rec board for recreational programs and events.
Planning, Property, and Ordinances – Focuses on government relations with the planning and zoning boards. Liaison to Code Enforcement, Planning, and Zoning Boards. Works with the borough office to maintain borough buildings, structures, and property, as well as annually review the borough code and recommend any suggested changes, and develop and recommend strategies for effective code compliance in the community.
Public Safety – Focuses on government relations with emergency services in the
community. Liaison to the Trafford Police Department (via the Mayor), Volunteer Fire
Department, Penn Township EMS, Emergency Management Coordinator, and Trafford Crime Watch organization. Works with the borough office with contract negotiations, addressing current and potential community safety concerns, and help develop and/or promote safety programs.
Public Works and Sanitation – Focuses on government relations with the Public Works
Department and public utilities. Liaison to Waste Management, public utility companies, and the borough engineer’s office. Works with the borough office for contract negotiations, to ensure proper MS4/EPA compliance and maintenance of infrastructure, and recommend to council any projects required in the community.
Junior Council Person Program Committee – Focuses on working with the Penn-Trafford High School to create an opportunity for Junior and Senior class students to engage and participate in Trafford Council meetings with the goal to represent their peers to local government so as to address the current issues facing our community youth. The JCP Council Committee shall serve as mentors with focus on creating real world learning opportunities in government, communications, and public relations.
