The legendary Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014—the world’s largest operating steam locomotive—is expected to pass through Trafford at approximately 2:30 PM on its historic coast-to-coast tour celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary. Built in 1941 to haul heavy freight across the Rocky Mountains, Big Boy No. 4014 is one of only eight surviving Big Boy locomotives and the only one still operating today. This is a rare opportunity to see a true piece of American railroad history in action.

One of the best viewing locations in Trafford is the underpass in South Trafford. We encourage everyone to arrive early, expect increased traffic, and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
