October 10th: The Amazing Trail Race

TRAFFORD, PA – The Westmoreland Heritage Trail (WHT) and the Community Women’s Club of Level Green (CWCLG) are teaming up for The AMAZING TRAIL Race on Saturday, October 10th from 10 am – 2 pm, to be held rain or shine. This scavenger hunt event mimics the popular CBS television reality show; The Amazing Race, where teams of two race around the world completing challenges to win a cash prize. The October 10th event is a fundraising effort for the WHT and CWCLG. The race will begin at 10:00 am in B-Y Park located on Route 130 in Trafford. Team check in begins at 9:00 am and participants can park in the Christian Life Church parking lot (900 7th Street Trafford) or the upper B-Y parking area. The event is open to anyone age 18 or older in teams of one or two people. The cost for a one person team is $30, and the cost for a two person team is $50. The cash prize awards will be $300 for first place, $175 for second place and $75 for third place. Teams will need to solve clues or find scavenger items along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail and finish first with the best race time to win. The Amazing Trail Race will encompass a 5 mile radius and take approximately 3 hours to complete. Because the trail will not be closed to the general public during the event, a general admission (spectator) fee of $5 per person will be collected. The general admission fee will allow family, friends and the public to cheer their team and take part in a number of other event festivities including food and refreshments, games, and a 50/50. All teams and spectators will receive an official Amazing Trail Race wristband that must be worn during the event. At 11:00 am, an all ages BINGO Scavenger Hunt will take place in B-Y Park. The BINGO Scavenger Hunt will challenge players to solve riddles and find items contained in the park. Contestants will need to mark off correct answers on a BINGO CLUE CARD. Clue Cards will cost $10 each and prizes will be awarded. Any 1 or 2 person team wanting to be a contestant in The Amazing Trail Race must pre-register, sign an event waiver, and mail in payment no later than Monday, October 5, 2020. Forms are also available at the kiosks on the Westmoreland Heritage Trail, and these Trafford businesses: Lisa’s Bike Shop, The Parkside Creamery and The Kick Stand Grille. Team registration will be available the day of the race additional $10 per team, so pre-registration is highly recommended.
