Official Release:
Recently, the Trafford Borough website, www.traffordborough.com, has been recognized by the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSAB) as a 2020 honoree for their annual award recognitions.
Council President Kris Cardiff, who in large part maintains and updates the borough website, appreciates the honor and is continuing to improve the design and content of the website.
“When I was first elected to Trafford Council in 2013, my goal was to bring our borough into the 21st century by forming a committee including Brandon Lacina of DigitalTrafford (credited for the original website layout) to create a website that not only served as a means to inform the community of upcoming events but also provide essential borough information such as council meeting dates to our residents and businesses.”
“Once the borough website had gone live, Phase 2 was to create official individual council and admin staff email addresses for easier communication access with our local government. Phase 3 established a social media presence where just about everything updated and posted to the website was posted to the official Trafford Borough Facebook page.”
Council President Cardiff stated that the next step was the most important.
“Phase 4 was my goal from the very beginning. I ran for council because the people wanted more transparency in our borough. This phase was set up in a combined effort with myself and the borough admin staff to provide approved monthly reports on where tax money and sewage payments were spent.”
“The folks in our town wanted to know where their tax dollars were going and I felt that it was only right to share that information.”
Cardiff says there is more to come with the website.
“Over the next year, we plan to assess the website to see how we can make it more user friendly.”
He also says a payment portal will be added very soon.
“Writing checks is becoming obsolete. Having an online bill paying option only makes sense.”
There is currently no official date on when the payment portal will be rolled out but Cardiff says they are working out the logistics and is pushing for Spring 2021.
According to Cardiff, the portal will be used for receiving sewage payments and eventually pavilion/park/Manchester Room rentals and application fees.
“We’ve made tremendous positive advances in our community over the past few years.” Cardiff said. “I’m optimistic and look forward to continuing our communication goals.”
