Trafford Borough is accepting applications for a Part-time public works laborer.
A part time Public Works laborer is responsible for the operations of a variety of construction and maintenance equipment and for manual laborer activities as needed and/or required for Public Works Department. Park grounds maintenance is, the most common type of work performed, laborers in this position also may work in road maintenance, assisting with traffic, and in other related areas in public works.
The position requires operation of the Trafford Borough owned vehicles, such as pick-up trucks, dump trucks, salt spreaders, snowplows etc…as required.
The applicant will mow grass, prune trees and hedges, building and ground maintenance, empty trash, and maintain park pavilions. Sweeping and clean up debris and materials from the roads will be required as well as snow and ice removal, including manual shoveling snow, conducting other job-related duties such as maintenance of vehicles, basic repairs and overall routine maintenance procedures.
Requirements: A valid Pennsylvania Drivers license, 18 years of age, a background check and drug test. The candidate will be required to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting objects up to 80lbs, and working in all types of weather conditions. A good working relationship with coworkers and the public is a necessity. The candidate must be available for call out emergencies such as snowfall, floods, downed trees, etc…
Job Description:
- Report directly to the Public Works Foreman
- Operate and maintain trucks, backhoes, pumps, compressors, jack hammers, lawn mowers, and other tools
- Assist in building and repairing manholes, catch basins, and other structures
- General labor
- Repair and patch streets
- Install, repair, and replace traffic, street, and other signage
- Maintain borough grounds, parks, and recreation facilities
- Assist in maintaining public buildings and grounds
- Perform snow and ice removal, including plowing and manual shoveling of snow
- Perform/assist with emergency sanitary and storm water line repair work as required
