The Borough of Trafford is accepting letters of interest from residents wanting to serve on the Trafford Borough Council. Letters of interest should be submitted to Trafford Borough, P.O. Box 196, Trafford, PA 15085, Attention: Borough Manager, by close of business on Friday, September 27, 2024. Please contact the borough office at (412) 372-7652 with any questions or concerns.
Per the Pennsylvania Borough Code:
§ 801. Eligibility.
(a) Residency.–The following shall apply:
(1) Except as provided under subsection (c), only registered electors of the borough shall be eligible to elective borough offices.
(2) Before being sworn into office, each elected borough officer shall present a signed affidavit to the borough secretary that states that the officer resides in the borough, or within the ward in the case of a ward office, from which elected and has resided in the borough continuously for at least one year immediately prior to the officer’s election.
(b) Incompatible offices.–A school director or a trustee of a charter school may not be elected to an elective borough office. No individual may hold more than one elective borough office at the same time.
The individual that is appointed to this position will serve on council until December 31, 2025, at which point the appointed council member will have the option to run for election to serve a four year term until December 31, 2029.
